From: Kristy on 03/04/2003
This problem in Outlook Express began after updating windows. I can only assume that something was not re-installed properly after the updates. Please any help and explanations would be appreciated. E-mail possible solutions to this problem to: thegirl78@hotmail.com.

Thank you,
Kristy

I have also recieved an illegal operation error aswell. It say's MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in module COMCTL32.DLL. If someone can help with this as I can see I'm not the only one with this problem. Can you post your possible solution on here as I have no working e-mail right now for obvious reasons...thanks.

most times problems of this type are caused by spyware. New.net is most times the culprit but any proxy spyware can cause these issues by corrupting of the winreg file. simply uninstalling new.net will not remove it from your registry. spyware removal tools like Adaware by Lavasoft, or Spybot v1.2 to remove it and there is no gareuntees you system will recover.

I was getting this exact error message in Windows ME:

Msimn has caused an error in COMCTL32.DLL Msimn will now close.

What finally fixed this for me is:

1. disable all Norton processes in task manager.
2. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel
3. Open Add/Remove Programs
4. Select the Windows Setup Tab
5. Uncheck Outlook Express
6. Click OK
7. Restart the computer afterwards.
8. When the computer comes back up end all Norton tasks in task manger
9. Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel
10. Open Add/Remove Programs and select the Windows Setup tab
11. Put a check back in Outlook Express
12. Restart when "update settings" is finished.

We have the same "msimn" problem after we downloaded & re-installed our msoe.dll. We're about out of ideas. Here is the complete read-out from the screen:

If anyone can help on this, we'd sure appreciate it. For now use 4aerial@sbcglobal.net off Yahoo!, since our regular web-site based system is off OE and that's kaput for now. Thanks.

I have had the same problem today after using my system restore disc to sort out a problem

Tried to open outlook express and got the message that msoe.dll was missing. Downloaded a replacenment and placed it in the correct place and tried again

Now I get the message "msimn has caused an error in Comctl32.DLL" "Msimn will now close" if you continue experiencing problems try restarting your computer.

Tried that and continue to get the same message

Cant think what to do now???

Any help please contact foxshooter@hotmail.com
