Word 2000 problems in a peer to peer network Post a Reply
From: Stephen on 09/14/2001
I am running a peer to peer network with the "server" installed windows 2000 and the "clients" installed windows me. The following problems occurs when using office 2000, especially word:
1. The office short bar crashed easily on start up such that "? icons" are displayed instead of the normal ones.
2. When running Word, the following messages occur very often:
" Word automatically save changes to the normal.dot template. Do you want to load it?"
"Changes have been made that affect the global template, normal.dot. Do you want to save these changes?"
"Winword has caused an error in MSVCRT.DLL. Winword will now close"
"This file is in use by another application or user(C:\..........\normal.dot"
Can anyone tell me how to fix it? thanks a lot.

Winword 2000 using Windows 98

Having problems using winword 2000. When double clicking on the icon the computer just hangs. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Word, but this hasn't helped.
Any ideas?

Delete the normal.dot file and restart your computer.
