Explorer has caused an error in kernal32.dll - Win Post a Reply
From: James on 04/21/2002
There I was surfing the net when the age old error occured (On Win ME):
"Iexplore has casued an error in kernal32.dll - this program will now close - If the error continues reboot your computer"

Computer was rebooted, but didn't help. Now Internet explorer, control panel, mycomputer, search, windows explorer do not work - I receive the same error each time (either the kernal32.dll or ). I have tried hundreds of reboots, safe mode, restore, uninsatalling various programs but with no luck. In safe mode I can open control panel, windows explorer etc, but basically have no idea on how to fix the problem. I did hear that is some sort of memory leak that is the problem, but who knows?!?!?

Please help!

I have been an amature VB Programmer for 2 years. tried working with several of these types of errors, ( Locating, analysing, reinstalling, etc, etc ) from my own experience, I would recommend to anyone having a problem with encountering any type of ( *.dll ) problem using either 95, 98, Me to resolve it by inserting your current windows CD, then search for the file thats causing the problem, then copy that specific file overwritting the file thats currently causing the problem. this usually always works for me. Hope this helps... send replies to my e-mail todd5524@yahoo.com

I also have win me and have contacted my chat tech's 7 different times and thought it was something i did and was trying to justify to my children that i did not know why the computer was having so many problems. actually it is embarrassing when someone comes over to copy something or look something up and all that they get is an error message. This computer was bought to enhance my childrens studies and bring the world home and now all we get is a error code 28 for kernal 32 i feel microsoft should either fix the problem or replace our software. My computer is in warranty till 2004 what for i really can't even use it for the intentions i had for it and i cant even upgrade or should say update anything by not being able to use internet explorer. I feel we should get together and do something...!

Pack your computer back up and send it or drop the damn thing off on Microsoft's doorstep - out to flood MS with un-godly amounts of Kernal32.dll messages.

I thought I had deleted something I shouldn't have as my control panel etc etc doesn't work either. I don't really want to restore my HD and everything so is there any other way around this problem. I can't seem to print out any web pages either and when 'pressing' a link button from a page nothing happens e.g. adding an item to my cart when trying to make a purchase. I have just installed BT Broadband and thought this may be more than a coincidence! Didn't realise so many probs with this crappy ME. Abbi from Leeds, England.

I agree with 99% of the world population - ME sucks and should be reported to Trading Standards - its a system that causes stress, heart ache, aggressive moods, inner anger, extra psychiatric bills= back to SE for me- suger I hate that word me or ME. I have continual blue screens kernal 32 crap etc etc etc etc etc......

I am relieved that I am not the only one who has had this problem. Ever since we got our computer (with Windows ME) we have had kernal32 errors. No one will help, and the place where we bought it couldn't fix it and basically said bad luck. I have also upgraded to IE 6. We only get errors when we are using internet explorer. I agree, ME sux!

I had the same problem but with windows 98. Mostly when using with Outlook Express and always with Internet explorer whether connected or not

reformatting Hard drive and reinstalling software seems to work OK except the modem does not work now. The doctor is looking at that.

I have the same problem and have tried several things to no avail. Reinstalled ME. Reinstalled iexplorer...then installed iexplorer 6.0. In the MS knowledge base there is a fix for damaged password files (article 135197) but it didn't fix the problem.

I blame this on ME...rightly or wrongly. I have had some many little problems with ME...so I think the solution is to upgrade or downgrade to a more stable OS.
