Fatal exception 0E at 015F:00000009 and scandisk Post a Reply
From: Wil on 06/11/2002
My computer won't bootup. It is an HP, pentium III, 450 mh processor running Win98. I opened up a reminder that I had AOL send to me. After I shut the computer down it would not boot back up. It runs the safe mode and sends the message, "A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 015F:00000009. I also receive a message that the scandisk has detected an invalid long file name and can not fix it. Any ideals or suggestions?

AOL does not send reminders. You probably got a nasty little virus.

Got Antivirus? Try booting the computer with the CD/startup disk for your antivirus program.

Windows has a system file checker tool that will replace damaged or missing system files. This might do the trick.

Check out support.microsoft.com KBA article Q185836.

Do not open anything from AOL. They do not send emails that are important to you. There are way too many scams out there with hackers getting you to open emails with a trojan horse.

Good luck.
