Computer starts up by itself after shutdown Post a Reply
From: fred2 on 01/09/2005
When I shutdown my WinMe computer, it turns itself back on. At first this would happen overnight, then after a few minutes, then a few seconds, now it's instantly.

I have tried several different scans for viruses and spyware and so on, and nothing has been found that makes any difference.

Can anyone suggest a possible solution or way of diagnosing the problem please?

Thanks,

fred2

CHE,

Here is my on-going thread about the problem at another forum http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=9372

There they have the mind-set that it is due to some virus or other malware, but I think other things could be the cause.

Perhaps you would like to desrcibe your problem also to that forum in the hope that this will help crack it.

I have also noticed that my PC Health Scheduler will not remember the changes I make to it after a new boot, although it does remember if I boot into safe mode. Does your PC health scheduler behave the same?

Thanks,

fred2
