Sokets de Trois Trojan Horse Going Wild Post a Reply
From: Bob on 05/21/2004
My Norton Anti-Virus / Firewall has been intercepting and stopping a trojan horse name Sokets de Trois for a few months. It would come up every once and a while. For the past few days I've been experiencing about a hundred attacks a day. My computer at home is getting the same thing. Norton hasn't been any help. Does anyone know what's gong on?

The help here was fantastic. I deleted the files / directories that were suggested. I ran Ad Aware. I now get ZERO attacks. Down from hundreds.

THANKS

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. For some reason the attacks have been slowing down. I have and use AdAware but that didn't seem to catch it. Can't wait to see if your ideas cut out even more. Thanks again.

I HATE THIEVES
This is happening to alot of people. especially the one's with high speed connections. First search for a (NavExcel) file's or folder. Uninstall the program. It's a trojan horse that hijacked your Anti virus files during an update. It also configures your virus program to exclude scanning Excel files for viruses so it won't be detected. Change it back. Get a Trojan scanner remover program. You can download one from (www.download.com) any p2p share net or puchase one. but get one and run it often. You can get a IP trace program. (NeoTrace) is a good one so you can see who's hacking you although theirs nothing you can do about it except report them. My trace came up with 84 different names of people hacking me. Finally and this is a pain in the 'ss but it seems to work the best. When your firewall alerts you, that it has blocked the hacker ie:(de trois trojan) open it and Restrict or disable the port address you where just attacked on. It's a pain but it will eventually slow them to a crawl. After blocking about 40 port adresses I only am getting attacked about once an hour and they don't slow my computer down. anymore. One more thing. The jerks all seem to be part of the (Genuity) (GNTY) network. Good luck. I hate theives.
