Excel 2000 freeze with resources low message Post a Reply
From: nay on 12/04/2003
I am using P4 1.7G, Win Me and MS Office 2000. Now I cannot start Excel 2000 with the error message "system resources are dangerously low". Is there any solution without adding Physical RAM or format and reinstall. Please Help.

solution provided - culprit is a damaged custom toolbar file.

Same problem as the original poster but with Excel 97. Thanks for the work around. The question I have is why is it doing this? I have not changed anything and this problem just surfaced out of the blue.

funny that you're asking that question today. I am a support guy and I received the exact error you're getting. I only had time to put in place a work around:

go to where ever you open excel - shortcut path - create a second shortcut. highligt that second shortcut. go to file, new, shortcut. in the create shorcut Wndow's commmand line field browse to the following path and add the /SAFE to the end of the line.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE" /SAFE
i chose the name: Microsoft Excel (Temp) for the shortcut's name. click finish. when you start excel you will have to fill your user name information, click on start using microsoft excel from the assistant and you will have to fill in your user name information a second time. bad that you have to do three additional steps to get in to excel but you should be able to get in to excel.
