 Invalid Page Fault in Excel at 017F Post a Reply
From: JLT on 12/09/2002
I have created 4 similar spreadsheets. 2 which work and which now don't work. I'm using Excel 97 SR-2 on Win 98.

The actual error I'm getting is;

EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in
module EXCEL.EXE at 017f:3044ab9e.

They all have a single sheet with some VB controls but no code, 2 charts and also they have some protected cells.

Trouble is the ones that work work fine and the ones that don't I can't get back into.

I've read a few notes on the web but none with this specific error.

Help!

OK! So Finally I found a way to get back into the Sheets and discovered theat removing the radio buttons does fix the problem. It has to be a quirk in Excel but not just 97 but it also affects 97 and I also couldn't open it in Lotus 123 either.

The way I got back in was to first run the xlscan97.xla then run the virus check add-in from the tools menu. The scan picks up the files it can't read and opens one of them up. It's a bit hit and miss getting the right file open but I found that it's possible by moving them around into directories to change the location the scan picks.

Once you have the file open you can delete the radio buttons or other control if it's not a radio button.

If you need more help on this one your welcome to write me on jlt206@hotmail.com

Good Luck!

There is something wrong with the visual basic programming in the file that you cannot open. That is the only thing I can think of. The error message is not specific to what is occuring and I have never seen that one before with Excel unless it was something related to VBA.
