My internet password doesn't save anymore Post a Reply
From: Joe on 12/28/1999
For some reason, my dial up thing keeps asking me for my password, even though I press the little button that says "save password".

My ISP tried by giving me all sorts of new numbers XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX and trying settings, but nothing worked. They say everything is set up OK.

This all started when it first asked me for a password, and I screwed up by having the "CAPS LOCK" key pressed (so the password was entered in ALL CAPS), and then I couldn't get in at all, so I called the ISP.

After all their help, now it always asks for my password.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, the suggestion worked. I found out that the modem that I had selectd was the wrong one, somehow windows put two modems in my computer, I checked the settings like you said and there it was! I don't have a network card installed, nor do I have networking on, so it doesn't ask for a password to access windows, sorry for the confusion.

: When you Log in to windows, Login as the Intial user, your problem is because you are not the Intial user.

: : Check your internet settings and modem to dial with. Look in "my computer" - "dial up networking" and then whatever you use to dial the internet. Check everything there including the modem it uses. Any problems with those settings will make the dial up "thing" ask for a password every time.
