Hi All,
Most of windows 98 and me errors are caused by antivirus software
running in the background, I had a freeze up error in me that started when i updated the mcafee 7.0 software, after removing the programs
in start up (msconfig.exe, the pc ran fine without any hitches.
Now when i download i scan that folder only for problems then shut down mcafee, a pain but least it's a workaround. Hope this helps.

Goodness only knows, but I get this error message on boot up of Windows ME with SKANDSKW, SYMTRAY and NPROTECT :
[ ] has caused an error in KRNL386.EXE
[ ] will now close
If you continue having problems try restarting your computer

Repeated closing of the PC and switching on again eventually works and the machine boots up(scandisk runs first). I think I may have to reload KRNL386.EXE but I understand that it is something to do with the memory application and should not be deleted.

Any ideas anyone?
