 shell32.dll Post a Reply

Updated and ran Trojan Remover this morning and it renamed 45 files. Half were because of something called PUS.AntiVirus2009 which it said was possible malware and the other half were renamed because of the presence of something called Trojan.backdoor. Now I cannot reboot in any of the options offered including safe mode. I tried using the install disk that came when I had my motherboard replaced a long time ago but the machine acts like it doesn't see it. The messages say that it cannot start Winlogon.exe and then secondly LSASS.exe because it can't find shell32.dll. It then has a message saying it can't find msgina.dll asks if I want to try to restart. I have read that when Trojan Remover renames files like these it changes the extensions to .vir I am running Window XPhome with SP2. Is there anything better to try rather than reformatting?
I am new to this forum and will supply my e-mail if that is necessary. Just let me know please
