I am building my second computer, and it has been a long time since the first. I've got everything assembled, but Vista Home x64 won't detect my SATA2 Hard Drive. Here are my specsQ6600 Intel
Intel D975XBX2 Mobo
Western Digital SE 400gb SATA-300
Graphics card and DVD writable drive and what not, but I think that's all the specs you'll need. My Mobo detects the SATA drive, but detects it as a SATA2 (if that's what the SATA-300 is). When I boot up with the Mobo CD in install any drives that are required it gives me
PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
Not sure if I need to install drivers from the Mobo CD, but when I try to install Vista x64 Home OEM, it doesn't detect my Hard Drive. I've tried various drivers from the Intel website, but none seem to work. My boot order is CD/DVD, Floppy, Hard Drive, Ethernet. (I don't have a floppy drive though and I'm trying to do this without buying one). The drive is set up as IDE (default, no SATA option, as I was told it was suposed to work under IDE).
Need help! Anyone have a similar problem?
