 How do you get access to a file? Post a Reply

sometimes i try to delete a file or end a proccess and it tells me that access is denied. how can i get access to change these files?

Not sure, could also be a case of a file that wasn't created by the user that your logging in as. If so, try logging in as them/administrator, should be able to access file then. Sometimes for some unknown reason, windows even blocks the administrator from deleting a file, in that case, safe mode, or linux live cd would probably be a good bet.

One way would be to boot up in "safe mode" (hold down the F8 key while windows boots) and that may let you get to the file.
Another way would be to download one of those "Linux live CD", and boot from it, the newer ones boot to a very useable GUI and also have toold to recover damaged disks. It's a good tool to have around.
You may have to change your BIOS setting so that your computer boots from CD first.
