From: Andrwe on 08/22/2005
Hi,

I have recently bought a thinkpad x24,when i turn it on it says operating system not found,so i have connected via usb an external cd rom drive and rebooted only to be stuck at the same black screen with "operating system not found" i have only the cd drive and hard drive selected to boot and have diabled the network, other devices so that it will only look at the cd and hard drive but i still get the same answer, could this be a hard drive problem?

When i restarted the system i pressed esc to take down the following details but i dont know what they mean :

details are:CPU iNTEL PENTIUM M PROCESSOR 1133 MHZ
638 K SYSTEM RAM PASSED
382M EXTENDED RAM PASSED
512K CACHE RAM PASSED
SYSTEM bios SHADOWED
UMB UPPERLIMIT SEGMENT ADDRESS:dc00
usb :tEAC CD-224E
fIXED dISK 0:HITACHI_dk23da-30B
mouse initialised
then it goes blank screen and operating system not found even though i have a proper version of xp pro in the cd drive.

any help would be most appriciated.

Andy
