My gosh! This thing has driven me nutz! I'm using a homebuilt GIGABYTE AMD 1500 yada-yada, and switched to DSL about two years ago. I forgot all about the US Robitics modem. Man there are some SHARP people on here. You're a better man than I Gunga-Den, I bow to your superior brain! Damn good job, it worked! Thanks! ...Mick

Wahoooo Excellent! Had the same annoying problem and fixed it. I have a Robitica modem on my PCI slot that I have not used in a year since getting DSL and when I went into my control panel and modem section and selected it to be disabled it solved the shutdown error! Unfortunately those that still need to use it that won't work. Didn't need to try to update the latest driver since I don't use it anymore, but that is what I would suggest for those of you that do. Good luck-

Try this, Start Settings Control Panel Phone and modem options Modems tab Remove buttonThis will remove the modem from Windows. Then restart your PC and let Windows re-install the modem drivers. Good Luck! Henry
