Hi I have just had an error accur on my WIN98SE operating system when i boot from the beginning; its is showing 'a fatal exception OD has occurred at 0000:0001000. Can you help please?

Try uninstalling Windows Update KB891711, i found it on another forum, worked here!!!

1) After installing Microsoft patch KB891711 Firefox crashes almost immediately after the startup. As I have found out many Firefox users have this problem. Patch KB891711 is (to my opinion) not really necessary when you do not use Internet Explorer anymore. 2) Thanks. I also find the KB891711 in the add/removal program control panel. Can I just use that to uninstall KB891711

I have had a friend bring me their PC with this error also, It looks like a piece of software is causing this when The machine is loading in windows. I am not sure if it a type of virus or a program that has installed with errors, or is conflicting with another.

Try booting your machine in safe mode (F8 while booting, after the specs) and uninstall what it could be, then reboot normally.

I am still trying to recover this machine as He and I have no clue what has done it, and he has some dodgyu parttioning software installed!!!!....git!
