IE Pauses for up to 20 seconds when searching Post a Reply
From: Craig on 06/17/2004
using winxp, explorer for browser, new p4 machine, cable net

problem: when searching on a search engine page it takes up to 20 seconds then the results come up. when i type the exact address in the location bar, there is no pause. once i get on a web site there is no delay(very fast) it seems if the computer freezes up for that period of time.

any ideas

This is probably due to spyware or a hijacker, use Spybot: Search and Destroy, as well as Ad-Aware. They both will find out what's messing with your computer.

I went into tools\internet options\advanced and unchecked Enable third party extensions. The problem was solved. Of course my google toolbar is gone now...
Any idea on why this is messing with my explorer?
