"Outlook has caused an error in KERNAL32.DLL& Post a Reply

Hello,

I use Outlook XP on Win ME and have recently started experiencing a situation where sporadically (and not predictably, although it seems to be linked to send/receive mail in a pattern that I haven't been able to ascertain) Outlook crashes. When it crashed it either brings up the regular Windows error message and asks if I want to send the data to Microsoft, or (and this is annoying) it brings up the following pop-up: "Outlook has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. Outlook will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting the computer."

Now, this wouldn't be so bad, except that when you click "Close" the window briefly goes away only to return again a moment later with the same message. There is no way to get rid of this window and the computer cannot be restarted using CTL-ALT-DLT, it must be manually powered down... it freezes during the attempted reboot when it attempts to deal with Outlook.

This, as you can imagine is pretty annoying. I do not run Zone Alarm, I do run the personal edition of AntiVir from free-av.com. Anybody seen this before or know what the problem is?

Thanks a lot.
