I found your post using google.

I also ran into this problem. I got the same error. Do you by any chance have a wireless phone? It seems that the D-Link cards have trouble dealing with wireless signals from other devices.

I use a Wireless phone (from Uniden). Both the wireless phone and the wireless network transmit on the same 2400-Mhz frequency.

One day the wireless network was very active (I was dowloading at 150Kb/s). the wireless phone rang, I picked it up and noticed there was alot of line noise. I hit the "Channels" button to switch channels, and *boom* I got a Blue Screen of Death with the same error about DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ... NETR33X.SYS.

Anyways, I bet your Wireless phone is the cause.

Follow these 5 steps and you should be up and running:

1. Install the D-Link normally, with D-Link driver and software
2. Download the realtek 8180 driver: ftp://152.104.125.40/cn/wlan/rtl8180l/winxp-8180(166).zip
3. Unpack the driver and edit the file NET8180.INF with a normal text editor: replace VEN_10EC with VEN_1186 (6 replacements) then replace SUBSYS_818010EC with SUBSYS_33001186 (2 replacements)
4. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network adapters and right-click your D-Link card to go to properties. Select Driver then Update Driver... and choose Have Disk and enter the location of your edited NET8180.INF
5. Reboot your computer

I have been getting the same error since I reinstalled Windows XP. I do not play the games you mention, but I do have a networking card from DLink. I have tried downloading the various fixes from Microsoft and drivers from DLink, with no avail. So far I get this crash when I download from p2psites. I thought perhaps the crash is being caused by tweaks to port settings that I changed to facilitate better download speeds. It's just weird that this never happened until I reinstalled Windows.

I've had the same problem and while researching it I came across this article onIf your computer is locking up or rebooting (restarting) when you try to load a game, it is probably due to the networking card in your computer. Linksys, NetGear and some SMC brand Networking cards have compatibility issues with many of pogo's games.

All three brands are very common, and frequently are distributed by many Broadband Internet providers when you sign up for DSL or Cable Modem Internet Access. If you're connected to the Internet via DSL, Cable Modem, or through a private home network, chances are good that one of these cards is installed in your computer.

Our suggestion is to try downloading and installing the Java Virtual Machine from Sun Microsystems (this is different from the one from Microsoft). This has fixed the problem for many of our users who had this problem, and it may work for you. Here's how to get Sun's Java VM:

- Go to http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
- Follow the directions listed on that page for installation
- Restart your computer before trying to play again

Unfortunately, if this doesn't work for you, the only resolution we have left to offer is to replace the Linksys or NetGear Networking card with one from another brand like 3Com or D-Link.

-line:

I'm going to try it and hopefully it will work.

I used to have this problem using my linksys Nic card. It also happened during the middle of downloads on mIRC. If your card is a Linksys I suggest heading over to BestBuy and picking up a different brand.. worked for me
