hey beta verison 5.5 works. I've been messing with the aim.exe error for like 2 weeks but if you donwload the beta 5.5 version of aim it's fine. delete the other aims though. It doesn't look as new its basic but every aim is about the same anyway

I had this same exact problem about 3 months ago, i tried uninstalling and re-downloading and everything else several times, nothing seemed to work. One week later i tried it and it worked all of a sudden, only downside was i lost my 200 some odd away messages. I have NO idea what i did to fix it, maybe just routine virus scans from adaware but i doubt that was it. Now i have the problem again and i can't seem to fix it, sorry guys :-/

hey, iv encountered the same problem and have not been able to resolve or fix it, however, you are still able to use aim express, its a pain in the ass, you cant see profiles, or direct connect, but until someone fuckin fixes this, itll do.

I found the fix gang. Just download the new beta version of IM. I believe its 5.5 Or wait till the new full version and not the beata version comes out.

Hi,

Has anyone found a solution to this issue? Ever since AOL issued their newest release, more people accross the net are experiencing this problem.

I have a custom machine, it has never run AIM before, this was the first install. Nothing works, from uninstalling to reinstalling to re download it and reinstall to uninstall, clean the system, shut down all unneeded windows tasks and antivirus etc. NOTHING works. And NO ONE from AOL to Microsoft seem willing to speak to the issue.

System is fully updated, as are all programs.

So aim.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. And the companies responsible for both programs are so big now they feel they do not have to be responsive to their users.

Has anyone stumbled on the solution? If so please post it here and to me personally. Thanks!
