Like the title says, I', missing my hal.dll file, and I try to use Windows system recovery, but I can't without the admin password - which I don't have, because I never set one. Gateway tech support says the only way to fix things is to reinstall XP, but I don't want to lose all my info. Is there any way I can dig up the admin password, or otherwise fix this problem? Thanks.
