hi! I have a compaq presario, running windows me, I tried to upgrade to winxp pro and the install goes fine but when its time for windows to startup I get the error "shell32.dll missing or corrupt,try a new install,may take care of the problem" (something along those lines)and I do, and i keep getting same error. I copied the winxp files to my computer and tried downloading the shell... file and copying it to the winxp file and that don't work. Can I get winxp to start up if I download the boot disks? hopefully someone out there can help me!!
