Whenever I try to use any internet sites that use the doubleclick.net advertising software, I immediately get an error message on a white screen. This means I cannot use Ebay, Ask Jeeves or lots of other sites. I have tried deleting all my cookies, emptying the window temp files and getting rid of all internet history, but to no avail. I have switched off my firewall (Zone Alarm), my virus checker and I have installed on of doubleclick.net's own Opt Out cookies, but nothing seems to work.I am using Internet Explorer 5 on a Windows 98 system. Any advice greatfully received.

Thanks for the advice. I do have Kazaalite on my computer and rewriting the host file did the trick.I wouldn't have worked that one out in a million years. Cheers!

Have you messed with the Hosts file? If you used the Hosts file that comes with Kazaa Lite, for example, doubleclick is one of hundred's of sites that are blocked. Usually this is desirable to block unwanted ads, but if you need acces to a site that's on the list, just edit the Hosts file with Notepad and find the line(s) with doubleclick and comment them by placing a # at the begining of the line.In Windows 98 the Hosts file lives in \Windows. In Windows 2000/XP it's in \WINNT\System32\Drivers\Etc This may not be your problem, but you wouldn't be the first one to put a Hosts file on your system then forget about it.
