abnormal program termination in Paperport

I have a Win 98SE operating system and I am runnin Paperport 7.0.

Everytime I try to open the program I get the following error:

runtime error!!
C:\PROGRAM FILES\SCANSOFT\PAPERPORT\PPSCANMG.EXE
abnormal program termination

Any ideas how to fix this problem??

I can't fix the problem . all they say when I try paperport is this "ppsscanmg generated errors and will be closed ; you must restart the program. When I use "Direct scan " i don't have the problem ; why?
