When I try to save a specific file in Microsoft Word '97 the message "Program Error: WinWord.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created" is displayed and the file is not saved. I scanned the file for viruses with no luck. I was just working on the file a few hours ago and had no problems. What is the problem? Thanks.

I have the same problem when saving a word document, OS is Windows 2000 and office is Office 97. Any fix regarding this? I have tried deleting the NORMAL.DOT file but the problem still persists.

I have seen a lot of problems in Word 97, most of them during the
start of word. But a huge percent of the time, I am able to fix
my clients word 97 problems by renaming the NORMAL.DOT file.
Search for this file and rename it to NORMAL.OLD. When you start up
word it will create a new NORMAL.DOT file automatically. Hope this
will also correct your issue with word

What os are you using and also have you tried re-installing office 97/word 97...
