Pink hue on the monitor Post a Reply
From: richard on 03/02/2003
I have a Bridge 17" Monitor (local souther cal firm) and it got a strong
pink hue to the screen. I downloaded winamp for unrelated reasons the night
before. When I booted up this morning the screen was pink. 2 years ago the
same thing happened but I cant remember what I did to fix it (definitely
remember I didnt open up inside of computer, so not a hardware problem
then).... Any ideas....I reloaded 98 SE, no help. I uninstalled both winamp
and the visual driver, ATI, and reinstalled ATI, no effect tho it acts like
it didnt uninstall because resolution is still at high 32. I checked
properties on My computer...no question marks to denote driver screwed up.
Any ideas would be greatly appriciated. Next time will remember to write
down the solution...if discovered this time..
Thanks!

I had the pink hue on the monitor and I just tightened the screws on the color and the cable came right back. No more pink hue.
Thank so very much, and my eyes thank you even more.

Hi

I think either your monitor cable is loose or your ATI card is defective. I have seen both these senarios at the office I work at.

Test1:Make sure the screws are tightened on the monitor cable and take a grip of your monitor cable while the computer is running with a pink hue and move it around a bit and at the same time check if the Pink dissapears or changes hue.(bad cable is common on "low budget" monitors)

Test2: this is little trickier and might not actually show a defect, open the cover of your computer and while checking the monitor hue(computer on) carefully bend your graphic card sideways and see if the hue changes. if the hue changes the card is bad and needs to be replaced. (we have had maybe 3-4 ATI cards that did this)

Other ways to test is try another monitor or Graphics adapter if you have access to these.

Good Luck /Thomas
