Mouse momentary lock up in Windows XP. Post a Reply
From: Jonathan on 02/24/2003
My problem is that every few minutes my mouse will momentarily lock up for no reason and then continue to function properly a few seconds later.
When it locks up a "da dum" sound plays.
Numlock seems to swith itself of momentarily when it happensbut if I turn numlock of the mouse will freeze anyway.
I am using windows xp , it is a brand new computer and it has happened since we bought it. (2.8ghz pentium 4, 512 mbram, 128mb geforce 4)
It happens during games also.
It happened 4 times while typing this post.
my email is jonmack1487@hotmail.com
if anyone knows how to fix this i would be very grateful,
thank you

if you go into control panel and into sounds and start playing sounds the da dum is the sound of device connect and device disconnect which only plays when a USB device is connected or disconnected.....which leads me to believe that it has got to be the usb drivers causing the problem....what i am going to do is reboot into safe mode and remove all the sub drivers out of the device manager and see what happens....i believe that it should fix the problem....if it does not updated motherboard drivers may help...
