I had the same problem listed here (entry point etc etc), but absolutely no spyware.
The real problem is a wrong version of ws2_32.dll , located in the user TEMP folder (documents and settings\username\local options\temp); delete all the content of this folder, and windows will use the ws2_32.dll located in the system folder, that is the good one.
bye and sorry for the english, i'm italian.

What about those who do not have the "current version" folder?
Thanks

Follow Steve's advice above, at least give it a go folks, for it works.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Go into REGEDIT, follow the path above, and delete the suspicious entry.

The exe file that "seems" to cause the "WSC Update Provider" window also seems to replicate and change title.

SOLUTION: For those at a loss to solve the problem of the WSCUpdate provider cannot be located in dynamic link library, ok First step click START bottom left of screen then click on RUN in the box type (regedit) then go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE then click on SOFTWARE then scroll down to find MICROSOFT click this to open it then find CURRENT VERSION click to open this too then scroll to find RUN click on run then on the top right there will be files look for 1 called SAH BUNDLE u need to delete it rename it, it will keep coming back on again and again but just persist on deleting it then eventually it will go took me a lot of deleting that 1 thing cos it kept reappearing but if you just keep deleting it as i say it does eventually disappear trust me on this 1, reading all the other solutions is very confusing follow these steps and you will find that it does work i had the same problem for 3 month so do as i say and u will solve it, replys to vote would be appreciated.

In regards to WS2_32, maybe GATOR or whoever is stuffing our machines should fix the problem eh?

They should provide a vehicle for us to enter our particular problem (ie. a screen print or so) and they can email us with step by step instructions on how to remove the problem.

With regard to the trickler_4010.exe , log in safe mode F8 and search for it and delete it. Delete it from your regedit aswell do a search and deleet all traces of it, I also deleted ZLT04826 after a search and also from regedit , There was a program which I found was also trying to access the internet called optimize.exe , I deleted that aswell from regedit and windows explorer, I had to keep deleting but I got rid off it in about 10mins Good luck , its easy when you know how:)

I have the same problem. I have win xp home.
A window keeps popping up titled "aupd.exe - Entry Point Not Found" and in it it says "The procedure entry point getaddrinfo could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll." or it says the same window but without "getaddrinfo" in the sentence. We tried deleting an aupd.exe file but it just comes back again.

Any ideas on how to fix it please email to velvets_mommy@hotmail.com

In addition to my earlier reply:
the problem of the error message indicating that an entry point voor 'getadressinfo'or 'wscupdateprovider' can not be located in ws2_32.dll is most likely caused by a different (older) version of ws2_32.dll in the folder "C:\documents and settings\<default username>\local settings\temp\", as installed by another application. This can be any application you install on your PC, not necessarily an update for MSN Messenger service. Apparently in Windows XP Home the original version of the .dll is overwritten without warning.
Compare date/version of the .dll in the ...\temp file with date/version of the .dll file in the C:\windows\system32 folder. In case of differences rename the file in the temp-directory and copy the original file from the system32-directory.

NOTE: the deleting of files and/or registry-entries as described earlier may still be necessary!

I had the same problem. Based on the information posted by others I looked in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Micorsoft\Windows\CutrrentVersion\Run where I found the odd entry "prxgrq" containing the value "C:\DOCUME~1\STANDA~1\APPLIC~1\ssithufp.exe –QuieT". Especially the 'QuieT' part looks rather suspicious to me.

I deleted this key and additionally removed the file 'ssithufp.exe'from its original location to another location (you can alwauys delete it when you're sure you don't need it).
This solved the problem for me, i.e. the error messages for the missing entry point in ws2_32.dll do not reappear anymore.

Another effect of this operation is that MSN nog longer runs properly untill you are connected to the Internet, i.e. starting MSN Messenger services no longer connect to the Internet automatically. Which brings me to believe that the problem originates from an update for MSN (I had the Patchou update foor Messenger Plus! 2).

Hopefully this is of some help to any of you who are confronted with this problem.

This will be my last posting, if you want to remove trickler quickly do the following:-

1. Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)
2. Type regedit, and then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)
3. Navigate to the key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

4. In the right pane, delete the value: trickler_4010.exe

5. Exit the Registry Editor.

6. Shutdown and restart teh machine.

7. Delete the shortcut in 'all users' profile.

8. Delete the file trickler_4010.exe.

I hope my previous postings were not too confusing.

Sorry, I did not know there was a character limitation. Just to recap, make sure that you find the filename that the shortcut is pointing too in your profile and the all users profile and search and delete any entries to this filename found in the registry.

These instructions apply to Windows 2000/XP.

Sorry, I cannot go in to more detail. If this does not work find the filename that the shortcut is pointing too in your or the all users profile and search for it on the internet.

The 'Spy-ware' on my machine added a shortcut in my profile to a file and some entries in the registry in the run section. You will need to delete the shortcut and remove several registry entries. The following instructions will vary depending on the type of 'Spy-ware' installed. I cannot go through the procedure I used to delete Gator and trickler as I removed it quickly and did not make a note of what I deleted.

1: Open up Windows Explorer and browse to the 'Documents and Settings' folder, you will then see a folder with the same name as your username ie my username is 'stepfaul' and there is a subfolder in Documents and settings called 'stepfaul' click on this folder to expand the contents. Click on the folder called 'Start Menu' and click on the folder called 'Programs' and click on the folder called 'Start-up', look at the shortcuts in this folder, delete any unknown shortcuts. Any shortcuts in this folder will be run as your computer starts, for example I can remember that I had a shortcut in this folder pointing to the file called Trickler_4010.exe (This file is an executable). Make a note of the file name and location that the shortcut is pointing to and delete the file as well.
As well as checking YOUR profile, check the 'all users' profile, browse to the 'All Users' profile from within 'Documents and settings', and again browse to 'Start Menu'>'Programs'>Start Up' and look at the shortcuts in there, delete any unkown or not needed shortcuts

This is stage one, what you have now done is deleted the shortcut and exectuble file. What you now need to do is to delete traces of trickler and Gator from the registry, deleting the shortcut and the executable file IS NOT ENOUGH.

When you delete the shortcut, write down the file name as you can then search for this name in the registry as well.

2: Click on the Start Button and click on 'Run', in the open box type in 'regedit' and click on OK. This will open the registry editor.

Please be aware that 'Root keys' and 'Sub keys' will be displayed on the left hand side of regedit and the 'values' will be displayed on the right hand side of regedit. Sub keys will contain other keys, so if you find an entry for gator (for example), this will contain 'sub keys' deleting the entry will remove all sub keys and values.

In the registry editor scroll right up to the top and click on 'My Computer' (regedit will only search downwards, if you are not searching from the root folder, then chunks of the registry will be missed when searching).

Click on 'Edit' from the menu and click on 'Find'. In the 'find what' box type in 'Gator',you are now searching for registry entries with the name 'gator'. Search will find and highlight any entries found with the word 'gator'(these could be sub keys or values), delete all entires found called 'gator'
Now do a search for the filename that the shortcut in you're or the all users profile or user profile was pointing to, in my case this was 'trick

I found the trickler in my computer and I tried to delete it from the System registry and it worked.

Go to the command and type regedit.exe, Enter.

Search the trickler and delete the entry.

If you just remove trickler_4010.exe you will not solve the problem as the entry in the registry will still be there.

Be careful when deleting entries from the registry only delete the entries for Gator and Trickler !

Trickler puts an entry in the RunOnce section of the registry. Open regedit and search for Trickler_4010.exe and delete all entries, including Gator etc.
Any entry in RunOnce will be run at starup.

I got rid of the trickler. just go to "Search files and folders" and then type "Trickler_4010" and your comp will search for it. The Trickler is a EXE file, so do not execute it. Just delete it! and its gone from your system... I hope.. I will observe my system and see if trickler comes back.
