Exception 0E has occured at 0028:C001545A in VxD Post a Reply
From: Dan on 12/16/2002
Not a "Fatal" error as described in most of the other posts but I just receive "An exception 0E has occured at 0028:C001545A in VxD which was called from 0028:C15697B5 in VxD. It may be possible to proceed normally - hit any key or Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart computer" About 50% of the time I can hit any key and it is ok but the other 50% of the time I can go back to windows but the mouse drags along making it difficult to place the pointer on what I need it to go to. Also, when I do hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, it does not go into re-boot mode. Any help????

I have this same situation since I installed Zer0knowledge Firewall and Antivirus, but only if I set-up Msn messenger to load upon computer start-up. If i uncheck this option, or if I uninstall msn messenger, then it's fine. pretty weird huh!

I am using Norton Internet Security and getting the exact same message. I have to reboot (cold) and then everything works fine. Happens about 50% of the time and I have never found a solution.

Usually occurs with McAfee Clinic or Firewall software. Reinstall software and your blues will go away. If this is not your case, post back. This can also be caused by a bad Creative Labs Sound card driver.

FYI: I usually recommend Norton as a virus and firewall solution. Norton Internet Security 2003 is out in stores for about 60 bucks or so. You get a full year of updates and I believe that Norton has less problems in general on PC's than McAfee

Computerpilot.
