Excel file CROSSFNC.XLA could not be found Post a Reply
From: Jim on 11/30/2002
My computer is a Dell Dimension 8100. Windows ME. Office 2000 Pro.

This computer came with Works Suite 2001 installed. I uninstalled it and installed Office 2000 Professional. It has worked fine for the best part of a year but recently I get the following message when I start Excel.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library\Crosstab\Crossfnc.xla could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open a file from your list of most recently used files on the file menu, make sure the file has not been renamed, moved or deleted."

When I click OK Excel opens and runs without problems

I have tried to locate this file on both Office 2000 and Works, without success.

Can anybody help.

Whe

One more thing, if you have Office 2000 installed, please remove Works. There is no reason to have both installed. There are many conflicts that occur when you are trying to use both.

Any tools you use in Works will be available in Office 2000.

Here is a suggestion that someone else made:

Go to Edit | Links and select the bogus link. Choose the Change Source button and browse for the active workbook. What you want to do is link your workbook back to itself.

Hope this works for you.
