fatal exception 0E@017F:BFF9DFFF at shutdown (rand Post a Reply

Hi everybody!

The pc I have this problem with is a 233 amd k6 on a m575 board by pcchips. It has 192 mb sdram (64mb pc66 noname + 128mb pc133cl2@66mhz by infineon). The 2nd module is a new one. The graphic card is matrox mystique 4mb. I've win98se installed, along with aol 7.0 and Norton Internet Security 2003. I had some other problems with the system, so all the stuff has been installed onto an empty hard drive. The drivers are the newest ones I've found along the net (it's actually not my pc)

From time to time I get this bloody bluescreen when shutting down windows.

Could this issue have something to do with these 2 different ram modules on one board? I mean, cl2 and so... Or has anyone some other ideas? Would appreciate any help.

Thx, AvB. mailto: agantworg@gmx.net

I saw this is an earlier post. I am getting an 018F:BFF9DFFF error and it fixed my problem. There was something called ad/trojan in my registry messing up my Microsoft Works and Norton was not picking it up. Although Norton may be a resource hog, it is a good program, and it isn't always the video card driver's fault. Hope this helps

Something that could be acting up on your PC is your Norton Internet Security and or system works I found that Norton is a memory and resorce hog..

It's the only one that i know that can really slow down an older slower system... ie: 166 and 233's.

Just thought i would share that with you guys

Just for kicks, what size is your power supply? Those AMD chips have been known to draw a lot of power.
Another idea, get rid of AOL. Their software just gets worse and worse every year.

Video Card Driver.

Get an updated one on Matrox's website.

This should fix your problem
