I continually get error messages and the system shuts down. This is the latest - Kernal32 General protection file failure in module user.exe at 0001:000004D2. All the errors seem to relate to Kernal32 or Waol. I don't understand any of it. I'm a Silver Surfer and would like any advise on this problem.

Sorry bout the delay. I think I have it sorted. I had started using a demo game RavenShield. Uninstalling this demo seems to have sorted out the problem. Don't understand why, but everything is working fine now, touch wood. thanks for the offer of help zipper

I'm in the same boat, am a newbie to computers so I don't understand what's going on. I did recently uninstall AOL so don't know if this has something to do with it or not. Have recently started to try to get a wireless LAN going at home, so could it be something to do with networking as I'm asked for a username and password everytime I log on to my PC now. Also I have Japanese and Chinese language IME's set up on my PC, this has all gone to pot now and is no longer responding.I'm using Win ME. (no comments about this please) Any help gratefully appreciated

I would reinstall AOL or upgrade to their newest version (v8.0). This usually fixes WAOL.EXE and associated USER.EXE error messages. If you continue to get the error message and it is not associated with AOL, please post back and I will try to find a solution for your specific error. Computerpilot

Did you ever get a response - I get the same error - I believe my issue may be due to software that was incorrectly deleted
