Probably this mail is corrupt and it corrupted your inbox. To solve your problem it is important to know, whether you use Outlook Express version 4 or 5. The methods are different.In OE4:
Open OE, but do not connect to the Internet.
Create a new folder in OE.
Press and hold down key and mark (highlight) each sigle mail in your Inbox *except* your brothers bold mail.
Now drag and drop all these highlighted mails into the new folder.
Maybe OE4 will crash now again, cause the corrupt mail will be highlighted automatically.
That doesn't matter: Close OE and reboot your Computer.
When you are in Windows again, rightclick "My Computer" icon on desktop and do a "Find" for "Inbox.*".
You will probably find two files "Inbox.idx" and "Inbox.mbx" in a folder called "Mail" (teh names be slightly different, I write from memory and translate from the German version).
Delete both files.
Start Outlook Express.
A new "Inbox" will be created with "Welcome" messages from Microsoft.
Now you can drag and drop your previously saved mails back from the new folder to the Inbox.
In OE5:
The method is nearly the same, but the file names and locations differ.
Open OE5 without connecting to the Internet.
Create a new folder in OE.
Press and hold down key and mark (highlight) each sigle mail in your Inbox *except* your brothers bold mail.
Now drag and drop all these highlighted mails into the new folder.
Maybe OE5 will crash now again, cause the corrupt mail will be highlighted automatically.
That doesn't matter: Close OE and reboot your Computer.
Now open Outlook Express, *right*click your Inbox and select "Properties".
You get a sheet with the Inbox properties: The last line tells anything like "The folder is stored in the following file : XXX.DBX"
Note the path to this file.
Close OE5 (if it hasn't crashed before ;-)
Browse to the file XXX.DBX, whichs path you have written down.
Delete the file.
Start Outlook Express.
A new "Inbox" will be created with "Welcome" messages from Microsoft.
Now you can drag and drop your previously saved mails back from the new folder to the Inbox.
In both cases ask your brother to re-send his mail ;-)

: Recently I recieved my brothers vary first e-mail to me, and when I saw it listed, it only was bold.
: Now I don't know if it's because of that, or just that something is wrong, (everything else is okay) but,,,
