startup desktop appearance Post a Reply
From: harry on 09/05/1999
When I boot up in the morning and get to the desktop
display it appears with white background and extra large typefaces.
I have to go to (my computer) / Display/appearances/
and change to standard display...then I click on apply
and everything appears as I want it.
This is ok for the rest of the day but when I shut down and boot up next day..same thing occurs.
I am using win95.
Can anyone help me to get this thing to start up with
the standard winddows display?
Will appreciate any help..........Harry

Is there any chance you are having shutdown or startup problems? if you are starting in "safe mode", then it would boot up in a different mode than you are used to, and not save changes, same thing if you don't shut down completely, it will load a "back up" copy of settings and such.

You might want to get a copy of 98 anyway, it fixes a lot of problems. Just figure it is a fix for all the things that should have worked in 95.
