computer crashing, mouse starts sticking, then fre Post a Reply
From: Phil on 03/27/2000
I have a problem, I've never really had problems with my computer crashing before, till now. The mouse starts sticking then at times will jump across the page without me even touching it. It's a Tiny pc, they give you a restore pack, which I used yesterday, but it's still happening and the warranty ran out a week ago. I asked today at my local computer shop and he said he had never heard of a mouse crashing a computer unless you had changed from 1 mouse to another. i'm getting a new usb mouse today, but I'm not really hopeful. ANY help would be really appreicated.
Win 98
P11 400
128meg ram
telewest cable internet software.

Thanks, Phil.

Generally speaking a mouse does not cause the computer to crash, its because of other issues such as Windows itself, a virus, BIOS, MOBO (motherboard), power supply, RAM or any new program you have loaded like a game or heavy memory resident use Microsoft Word, Excel, downloading pictures, etc.

I had the same problem with the mouse sticking and freezing up. I did a clean reinstall of Win XP and then the problem started. However, I uninstalled the mouse (use the control panel), reinstalled the mouse and it seemed to get rid of the problem.

Good luck.

There is a software program called AntiCrash that might help. I use it on my 2.8GHz Win XP Pro. It will stop most crashes but not all kinds of computer crashes but I'm sure it will stop the mouse sticking crash. It sells all over the internet for $30. Might be worth trying.
