I am getting a Fatal Exception 0E at 0028:c0092659 in VXD VRTKRNLD(01) + 0002245 in Win98, plus many general protection faults, spool 32 errors, and many illegal operation errors. i use a sb live platinum sound card and a zip 250 drive (these are my latest additions to my machine. is it likely to be software or hardware related.

: Hi, getting the same Fatal Exception at 0028:C00E2351 in VXD VRTKRNLD(01) - 00022045 at startup, but not every time.

: Actually, I guess this has to do with software conflict, since no hardware installed recently has generated this crash before.

: If someone has a clue... thanks.

I have a very similar problem. The difference is in the message:
Fatal Exception at 0028:C00B8535 in VXD VRTKRNLD(01) - 00022045
^^^^^^^^

I have this error at startup and during the normal use of the PC. I think it depends from sb live, because I have ALWAYS this problem when I try to change a sound effect.
I didn't find any help anywhere, I have reinstalled
DirectX, IE, the old drivers, etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.
with NO result.

thank you in advance
Marco

I firstly did a search in find: then located, and deleted the said offendig file and all associated .dll files. Problem appears to be solved.
