when i play age of empires two, i start the game and it loads the map up then boom, when the game is supposed to start the bsod comes up with "Fatal Exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0006EB2 in VXD VMM(01)+00005EB2" and it usually goes back to desktop after that, the game having disappeared. This also happens when i try to play Half Life, i have looked everywhere and theres no information about this exact error. I have a Pentium3 733mhz, 128ram, 20gig HD, tnt2 m64 video card, creative audio PCI128 sound system.
some say its my directx drivers, but other games like starcraft, red baron2 and jedi knight run fine.
that was quite a mouthfull thanks for baring with me, any help would be held with the highest regard.

had the same problem for a different program; I had to take out the scanreg /autorun setting (in the msconfig program). Then everything went fine...

Well I had this problem and I fixed it by downloading the latest drivers for my motherboard and my video card. If your motherboard is based on VIA chipset download the latest 4in1 drivers and AVOID the agp turbo mode when it will be asked during installation

I was having the same problem and I concur with Ray, along with a couple other suggestions. I'm running a PIII 800, Windows ME, Leadtek GeForce2 GTS, 128MB RAM, and A-bit VH6 motherboard. BIOS settings are one key, make sure they conform to your video card's suggestions (video cache disable, VGA pallette snoop disable, etc). Second, if your montherboard uses the VIA chipset (most if not all AMD and many Pentiums) go to the VIA website and download their '4 in 1' service pack with an updated .vxd file and AGP interface. Another thing that helped me was using a generic monitor driver (probably since my monitor is no longer produced), and in display settings using SMALL FONTS instead of LARGE FONTS. Good luck!

: How's it going Richard,
: Ray here,i was having the exact same thing. Only it was happening with Halflife,Rouge Spear,Counterstrike Etc.the above error was going on for the last three weeks and i was suicidal.Any way here is the fix that worked for me,Go into BIOS,goto Chipset Features, you will see that there is an option for AGP,Aperture size, more than likely this will be set to 32meg,change it to 8meg or 16meg. 8meg has worked for me - also there should be an option for Video Ram Cacheable Disable this save settings and reboot PROBLEMS FIXED,it worked for me My Machine Specs are as Follows.
: PII 450
: GEFORCE 256 Anhilator
: 256Sdram
: 18Gig Quantim Harddisk

: Best of Luck.
