reinstalling Win98 - Setup unable to display nondi |

I have been experiencing frequent crashes - Invalid page fault MSHTML.dll, games crashing back to the desktop, and decided to do a fresh install. After installing win98 I received the above message. Turning off the internal cache in the bios got me past this problem, but the machine runs unsuably slow. Enabling the cache again seems to work, but I am still experiencing intermittent crashes. Have I got a damaged CPU? My system is an AMD 450, Ali V S7AX motherboard(most recent bios) and 128 Ram.
