I get the error message: A fatal exception has occured at 0177:bbb83bea or 0177:bff72170 during startup. What's wrong? Not every time but often.

All I know about these 0E errors, is a possible physical ram, use a "walk the ram" check...otherwise it's a slow processor not tuned to the VMManager. I have the same problem 0E 0157:BFF9A3C4, since I loaded some stand alone program. Auto Swap fixes the IE5.5 related crash, but it is not my preference to Thrash the HDDrive.
0E is one of the most broad spectered windows problem, it could be anything, so the best cyre is to roll back on some backup or unwise/unstall the last programs before the problem started!

No help, but I am a fellow sufferer. I get a non-repeatable assortment of these errors at start up - some will recover themselves by pressing the space bar, others will hang and require a reboot.

Other symptoms are 0157:0000663D, freeze after the windows background is loaded but before any icons or start-up pgms, freeze when just some icons are displayed, etc.
