Install a vxd patch to begin with..Do a google search for it. Go into your motherboard bios and change the cpu vscore setting up one notch. My voltage was 1.50 preconfigured and i changed it to 1.75. CPU's usually have no problem with small voltage changes. My asus probe has monitored it and the cpu temp is the same as it was when the vscore was 1.5. Also change the cpu memory ratio from 1to1 to 3 to 4 . This fixed all my problems and my comp has never run better. All these responses that the cpu may be too hot are bs. VXD errors are a real problem to many people running win98 and 98se. Yes the cpu can cause errors if it gets too hot but of the millions of people with the vxd problem, very few have a cpu heat issue. It is a windows 98 install problem mixed with incorrect cpu settings in the bios.

I think it may be system memory problem.if your memory's CL=2,then you can change it to 3

: Hi Mike

: AMD K6 CPU's are notorious for running 'hot'.
: First thing to check is that your CPU fan is running; next that the heat-sink is well seated and possibly has a generous application of thermal paste.
: If the fan is dodgy, replace with the biggest you can get hold of and which will fit snugly atop the AMD CPU......

: This -can- lead to damage to the CPU/mainboard if not attended to.

: Good luck
