Windows ME IFSHLP.SYS missing or corrupted Post a Reply
From: Susan on 07/17/2001
Windows has decide to bypass my start up files. Scandisk attempts to run but freezes up at the final stages. After aimlessly trying to figure out how to fix the problem, I ran across the error that IFSHLP.SYS is corrupt or missing. That's the only error I can find. I tried to boot from a Windows 98 reboot disk, but receive an I/O error when I do. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm clueless!!!

This Microsoft support article may help: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=258471

Sounds like your Win98 boot disk is corrupted. You create another from any working PC using the image files available at http://www.bootdisk.com

Hope that helps :)
