Netscape caused an invalid page fault in Netscape. Post a Reply
From: LD on 08/01/2001
I have a Celeron 533, win98 se, 128 ram - 1 1/2 yrs old. I get Kernel32.dll errors from explorer at 0187:bff...and Netscape.exe errors all at 0187:006 or 004...All I am doing is scrolling through folders or files when I get kernel errors, and browsing the web when I get netscape.exe errors. I have nothing else open at the time. My system resources are fine and my disk is defragged etc. I have nothing running in the background. I very frustrated, I even switched network cards to see if a better one would help, but still getting errors. Where else in my system can I look to see if something is trying to grab these memory addrs or etc. I have no viruses either. Any help will be appreciated.

General things to try with netscape or IE errors:

delete or rename files in the c:\windows\temp directory, under the view menu in win explorer make sure you have it set to show all types of files, even hidden files. Find them and move them or rename them with a different ending.

try running scandisk or use norton tools - see Programs - Accessories - System Tools - ScanDisk

empty your start up folder, move the files out of the folder so nothing is starting up. If you are smart, find any entries in the registry that cause something to start up, that's a bit tricky and for advanced users only.

scan for viruses, update your scanner, check or disable your virus scanner to see if it causes the problem.

Update any video drivers, what the heck. Turn down the video acceleration as a test to see if that's the problem.
