: This depends on what file allocation table (FAT) setup you have formated the disk with. Are you running Windows 95? From what I know of your computer, I believe that this computer is sold with Windows 95 installed and this would indicate that your computer is set to FAT16. It is possible to separate the new hard drive into two partitions (or more) to make it work.

: Can you install Windows 98/SE? This operating system uses FAT32 and will accept the 2.1 GB hard drive. The only problem you will have is getting a CDROM...

: Another possiblity is the BIOS restriction of Hard Drive size. Unfortunately, I am unaware of any restriction on the Thinkpad 750C Hard Drive size in the BIOS.

: If all else fails (no Windows 98 or better), then contact the hard drive manufacturer website or via phone or email, as it is possible that they will have a solution for you. Some hard drive manufacturers have developed software to make their hard drives compatible with older systems.
