OleMainThreadWndName on Win ME Post a Reply
From: Stinkweed on 01/01/2002
I recently Nuked my box then installed a fresh copy of WinME. I get that same "OleMainThreadWndName" crap too.. Norton Crash guard picks it up for me everytime. however I did notice it to happen just before that little "Update Reminder" but I think that was just a coincidence. another neat litle problem is my CS32.exe gets slammed too.. I believe that to be Norton Clean Sweep but I havent really interogated that one yet. but mack to the OLEMAIN thingy, Registry Keys are all chineese to me.. I want to know what the heck the program is used for.. where does it come from... and what needs to USE it.. cause if I dont NEED it... then I dont WANT it... that simple..

As far as in my taskbar I have:
Volume control
Norton A/V
Msn Messenger
AOL messenger
Internet connection sharing

Dude, it is the same problem for me. I been like updating my DCOM32 and my COM32UPD.exe didn't help. I been trying to get into Macromedia Fireworks 4 but it was no use. It keep on saying OleMainThreadWndName and I try using Norton 2000 but it was useless. It keep on saying error in parameter or something but i keep on reinstalling the program and getting updates and I know it is the OleMainThreadWndName fault because that I happens each time i try using a paint program. I think that is the problem or else i don't know what because this happens only on paint program of mines.

Same problem only it's a Win98 machine. My customer is also using Norton Crash Guard, (I suspected this at first but it doesn't seem to be the offender). Also has a BSOD every time he accesses the CDRW so I thought that the TDK software might be a culprit. Blew it away but still no luck.
I too have had no luck finding out what "OleMainThreadWndName" does other than playing some part in database access (could be wrong there). Any help would be appreciated.
(only Norton in systray)
Regards, Steve
